Haiti, with its name "land of liberty," is and was the world's first Black republic. A former French colony that broke the chains of slavery and proclaimed its independence to the world when it seemed impossible.

Thousands of human beings separated from their families, beaten, mistreated, brought from Africa to serve the needs of another of a different color, who also considered themselves a "superior race," or worse, did not consider the other race as human.

They won, although they did not have and did not possess any arsenal of war, but they had the strength and the will to live as free men and women, hence their war cry: "Libète ou lanmò" (Liberty or death).

Haiti is not only the first Black country to be independent but also the first country to have made the Declaration of Human Rights universal.

Education is the transmission of knowledge, skills, and character traits, manifesting in various forms. It generally takes place in a structured institutional setting, such as public schools, following a curriculum. Education is also a discipline concerning teaching and learning methods in school environments, as opposed to non-formal and informal means of socialization (Wikipedia).

Is Speaking French a Sign of Good Education in Haiti?

Taking into account the socio-cultural contexts with a population of 12.4 million inhabitants and a mother tongue, "Kreyòl" (Creole), which is the language spoken by 80% of the Haitian population, a former master-to-slave colony. The newly free Haitian, out of his hatred for his former master and his ignorance of scientific knowledge, would leave the most important positions to former freed slaves or the sons of settlers who had studied abroad, given that they had no competence in the matter. But he would also bequeath this vast, albeit generous, heritage to future generations.

Social Psychology

The new republic, as it is today, has always been under French influence, controlling the politics, the economic, and social life of every individual.

In the time of the colony, French was considered the language of excellence, intelligence, and knowledge. The slave, being nothing, had to, in order to survive, either revolt or adopt the language and the manner of doing things of his so-called "civilized" master.

Almost a decade of psychological and physical turmoil that is still felt in today's society.

In certain places, in certain cities, certain schools, although for the most part, learning is done in the French language and it is one of the official languages of the country and it is the language spoken by the Haitian elite: speaking French becomes obligatory, privileged, and reserved.
